M&C Saatchi wins 5 at D&AD for Optus Clever Buoy.

M&C Saatchi’s Optus Clever Buoy has made huge waves at the 2015 D&AD Awards, winning five Pencils.

If Cannes is the Oscars of advertising and creativity then D&AD is the BAFTAS, the London equivalent that attracts the globe’s best work and judges – including M&C Saatchi ECD Ben Welsh.

Clever Buoy – The collaboration between Optus and M&C Saatchi that produced a world-first shark detection buoy – wowed them all to win gongs in Digital Design – Technological Innovation, Digital Marketing – Innovative Use of Technology, Outdoor Advertising – Ambient, Integrated & Innovative Media – Earned Media Campaigns and Product Design – Innovative Product Design.

A definite Innovation thread there that continues Clever Buoy’s remarkable global award run that includes: the Spikes Asia Innovation Grand Prix, the LIA Most Innovative Use of Digital, the IAB Mixx Special Gold Innovation gong, the Warc Prize for Innovation Grand Prix and the SXSW Interactive Innovation ‘Internet of Things’ Award.

The agency will have to wait until 21 May to find out what flavour Pencils the project has won – Wood, Graphite, Yellow, White or Black.
